For one week, Far From The Norm have been invited to take part in a residency with Crying Out Loud associate artists Pirates of the Carabina. Pirates of the Carbine (POC) are a trailblazing circus company who specialise in theatrical, highly technical shows with a very strong live music ethos.
Comprised of 13 highly experienced and committed circus artists, riggers and musicians from across the world, POC initially came together for a one-off commissioned performance of FLOWN in 2011 at Glastonbury Festival.
Since then FLOWN has toured Europe, Australia and the Middle East and astonished surprised and delighted thousands of people.

With thanks to Crying Out Loud, whose commitment to providing opportunities to artists to develop their practice is incredible. Far From The Norm are so lucky to have been thrown into a warehouse in Bristol for 5 days to explore how artistic director Botis Seva’s experimental hip hop theatre style can work with circus stunts including flying, wall running, Chinese pole & bungees to name a few.
For one week FFTN & POC will train together, expand their practice and push boundaries. Pirates of the Carabina will introduce Far From The Norm to counterweighting, rope, aerial hoop and silks. With both companies possessing the desire to push boundaries, it’s a meeting of minds. There will be lots of exciting circus, acrobatic and dance jamming this week. Watch this space…
